Hi! I’m Kate.
I’ve been traveling around the world since I was 11 years old.
No, not full-time, though that would be cool. I was just lucky enough to have parents who loved traveling and brought their children along for the ride. Traveling has always been a priority in my life, but unfortunately has fallen by the wayside since college. Having a full-time job with little vacation time makes it difficult to really see the world the way I want to. I started this travel blog, after all these years, because I want to make traveling a priority again, even if that means going alone. I had never traveled solo before, and as a female, it is not always an attractive idea for your friends and family to grapple with. But traveling is my passion. And I found that traveling solo no only opens you up to meeting new friends, but it allows you to travel the way you want to, without having to answer to anyone else. I like that.
Someday soon, I want to pack my whole life into a backpack and truly experience different cultures in a way that you can’t in a one or two week vacation. Exploring different corners of the world, learning about different cultures, making memories that far surpass any material thing that I own, is the best thing in life (in my opinion).
Traveling alone to far off places will not be easy, however. I am introverted and have social anxiety. It used to be fairly debilitating when I was younger. I was afraid to talk to people I did not know, I kept my eyes down while walking anywhere and I was even afraid to go to my own friends’ parties in case I didn’t know anyone else. The thought of going outside my comfort zone at all makes me nervous. Thankfully, travel has helped to bring me out of my shell. Stepping off that ledge, going out of my way to talk to someone new, is exhilarating and I want to keep doing it. Also, thanks to travel, I developed a love for photography. And now I can share my experiences and photos with all of you!
